A LOCAL organisation is offering to pay people’s council tax following a dramatic decline in the number of potential foster carers coming forward and offering their services.
Mulberry Foster Care based at Phocle Green Business Park, Ross-on-Wye is taking decisive action to support those who decide to open their homes to vulnerable children and will pay up to £2,500 per year towards the council tax of its foster carers.
The introduction of this benefit comes at a crucial time as councils raise taxes to meet increasing social care demands, leaving many households feeling the financial strain.
At the same time, the number of foster carers has been steadily falling, leaving more children without the stable, nurturing homes they need.
Recruitment manager Matthew Smith, emphasised the urgency of this support: “Foster carers are the backbone of our communities, yet many are struggling financially as the cost of living rises.
“By covering council tax, we hope to remove a financial barrier and make fostering a more viable and attractive option for both new and existing carers. Every child deserves a loving home, and we are committed to doing everything we can to make that happen.”
“Mulberry Foster Care is a dedicated, community-focused fostering agency committed to providing exceptional support to carers and life-changing care to children. It’s mission is to create safe, stable, and nurturing homes where every child can thrive.
“With local authorities under increasing pressure and a critical need for more foster carers, Mulberry Foster Care hopes this initiative will encourage more people to step forward.
“If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is the time. We are here to support you every step of the way, and this initiative is just one of the ways we show our appreciation for the incredible work our carers do.”
