Members of CreateROSS are looking forward to seeing lots of local people at The Prospect in Ross-on-Wye, on Sunday, March 17th at 4pm to witness the unveiling of the first exhibit in the Ross Museum without Walls: The Lost Fountain.

Using AR (augmented reality) the fountain that once stood in the centre of The Prospect has been recreated.

With funding from Herefordshire’s a Great Place, local artists, researchers and digital producers have been collaborating on this exciting project for the last six months.

This will be the first opportunity for local residents and visitors to see this lost part of the town’s heritage.

The launch will be hosted by children from local primary schools who have been involved in creating films of the characters involved in the history of the fountain.

Bring a smart phone or other digital device to see how the gardens might have looked in the early 1700, complete with The Lost Fountain at its centre.

CreateROSS, a local voluntary group dedicated to encouraging creativity in Ross-on-Wye and South Herefordshire, hope to build a trail of 12 digital attractions across the town over the next three years creating a unique heritage experience for all to enjoy.

Ed O’Driscoll, Chair of createRoss says “The original fountain was a source of pride for the people of Ross. It is great to be able to recreate for us to see again.”

Lauren Rogers, of Herefordshire’s a Great Place, said: “We’re pleased to support this AR project that has involved so many different people and highlights how the arts, heritage and creativity can thrive in rural towns. We can’t wait to see how the Museum without Walls continues to grow.”
