Ducks will be lining up on August 29 bank holiday in a fierce race put on by Bishopswood Village Hall.
The race, which has been running for more than 20 years, sees around 500 ducks race from Kerne Bridge to the Kerne Bridge canoe launch. The event meets at 5pm, Monday, August 29, at the village hall. Cash prizes are £50, £25, and £10.
The race, organised by the village hall committee, is assisted by a number of volunteers from the canoe launch who wait in their canoes, ready to fish out the competing ducks.
This year’s event is slightly different to previous years as Bishopswood is working in collaboration is Walford Village Hall. Walford are running a family day between 11am and 4pm, where race ducks can be bought, along with tickets for the evening at Bishopswood at 6.30pm, which will include a hog roast, with veggie, vegan and gluten free options available; as well as a ceilidh with the band Life of Riley. Funds raised will go towards the village hall; over the years the duck race has become instrumental in raising funds for it.
More information and tickets are available on the Bishopswood Village Hall, by phone at 01600 891277, or by email [email protected].
