CANTUS Clarinet Quartet are coming to Penallt Old Church on Sunday 28th July for what promises to be a first class and entertaining programme of Music from classical to the Beatles.

The Cantus Quartet are professional Musicians who have played for all the major UK orchestras and internationally.

Led by Monmouth Comprehensive alumni Judith Bucknall, who now lives in Redbrook, Penallt Church is proud to put on the event with help from its sponsors Robert Price, The Boat Inn and Wye Valley Country Store.

Juliet studied at the Royal School of Music where she won the Clarinet prize.

She has played with many professional orchestras during her career, including Royal Ballet and London Symphony to name just two!

Soloist and chamber musician Peter Nichols has given live broadcasts on Radio Three and Classic FM, performed at venues such as the Wigmore Hall and the South Bank as well as in Japan, the USA and throughout Europe.

He has worked with many of Britain’s leading orchestras and in several West End shows, including being a full-time member of the orchestra of The Phantom of the Opera.

Karl-Johan Dürr-Sørensen studied at the Royal School of Music and worked as a freelance clarinettist in London for 20 years playing with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra and was principal clarinet for the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra for over 10 years.

Karen Hobbs is a freelance musician, performing regularly in West End shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Wicked and Les Miserables.

She has played on the soundtrack for several films, worked with pop stars such as Ariana Grande, and has performed in venues throughout the world with various orchestras as well as touring extensively in the UK with Carl Rosa Opera.

Doors open at 4.15pm with a welcoming glass of Pimms served to all ticketholders.

Penallt Old Church sits 600ft above the Wye with fantastic views down to the river and across the Forest of Dean.
