LOCAL artists, schools, a community group and a care home have responded to a call by Ross-on-Wye Town Council to producing boards to decorate the Market House during its restoration.

The historic 17th Century Market House is currently being renovated and these works are expected to be completed by November. But while the works progress, the building has been boarded up and is surrounded by scaffolding.

Eleven boards have been created to brighten the building up using the theme of what Ross is all about or what the town is known for, namely the beauty of the town, the River Wye and hedgehogs.

The schools responding to the appeal, included Ashfield Primary, St Joseph’s Primary, Brampton Abbots Primary, Bridstow Primary, and John Kyrle High School.

Even the elderly from Dulas Court, a care home in Ewyas Harold teamed up with Wyetots Child Care to create a board as did the Ross Family Hub, which created the board during an open day.

Local artist Sarah Williams created a design incorporating the River Wye while Amelia Boyles created a design focussing on dragonflies.
