Staff and pupils at Whitchurch School were delighted to be awarded an International School re-accreditation, from the British Council, in recognition of their work incorporating international awareness into their learning.
Global issues are extremely important at the school and this was acknowledged by the assessor, who noted the strong sense of citizenship and the depth of opportunities given in a meaningful curriculum based context.
The strong collaboration between the Chinese and Ugandan schools was also highlighted as providing rich learning opportunities for all the children as well as valuable professional development for teachers in maths and pedagogy.
The children in Key Stage Two are currently learning about Spain and its culture with a view to creating a new link with a Spanish school.
