Brampton Abbotts CE Primary School in Ross-on-Wye finished the calendar year with a wonderful Carol Service, following an incredibly busy penultimate week of term.

Children, clergy and staff celebrated with a Carol Service that included some super woodwind group performances, self-written Christmas prayers and Year 5 and 6 readings, telling the story of Christmas.

Dan Brearey, Headteacher of both Brampton Abbotts and Bridstow schools said: “We work hard to include the children as often as possible in all learning experiences and our Carol Service was no different. I am very proud of the wonderful show the children put on and the great way that the children celebrated the build up to Christmas and the final day of term.”

The past shortened week (due to the snow) is no different to any other Primary school at this time of year.

Alongside the Carol Service there was the Christmas lunch for the whole school, the PTFA led Christmas party for the children, a children’s treat from the school Governors and two Nativity performance.

At these busy times, the hard work of all the school staff and the PTFA is essential to make this time of year special for all the children in the school. This hard work and commitment was one of the factors that has resulted in Brampton Abbotts becoming the best performing primary school in Herefordshire (for Year 6 SATs outcomes and progress) and one of the top performing in the country for 2017. Not bad for a school where “happiness is created by achievement and achievement is created by happiness” – the school motto for the past five years.
