A new eco-friendly housing development has been unveiled in Ledbury, as Vistry Cotswolds begins building 140 energy-efficient homes at the Hopfields site, located off Leadon Way, just a mile from the town centre.

The development, under the Bovis Homes brand, features a mix of two and three-bedroom bungalows and a range of two, three and four-bedroom houses.

The launch event, held this summer, saw the opening of a sales centre and two show homes, marking the first opportunity for the public to view the site.

The occasion was attended by Ledbury Town Council Deputy Mayor,CouncillorElizabeth Harvey, who officially opened the sales centre by cutting a red ribbon. Councillor Stef Simmons, vice chair of Herefordshire Council, was also present for the event.

Hayley Ody, regional sales and marketing director for Bovis Homes, highlighted the environmental focus of the development: “This will be one of the first developments built by Vistry’s Cotswolds division to feature solar panels and electric vehicle charging points on all homes, alongside other measures such as wastewater heat recovery systems and improved building materials to maximise energy efficiency.”

In addition to energy-efficient homes, the Hopfields development will include a dedicated ecological area with woodland, a meadow, and a picnic area to create a space that supports local wildlife and enhances the community experience for residents.

Of the 140 homes, 84 are earmarked for private sale, while 56 will be offered as affordable housing for local residents through low-cost rent or shared ownership. Prices for the two and three-bedroom homes currently available start at £299,995.
