A WEDDING, party and corporate events venue that is planning to expand into being a hotel is seeking a licence to serve alcohol till 2am each night.
The Parkfields country house near Pontshill has been operational as a corporate events venue since 1995, but has recently been taken over by a London-based company Chelsea Parkfields and has branded the local business with the same name and re-opened earlier this month.
“The venue will be used for corporate events in the short term and will expand to the leisure market over the coming years and operate more as a hotel and function venue,” its application for a venue licence says.
This seeks permission to serve alcohol from the venue’s sole bar until 2am and to serve food and hot drinks till 1am each night.
It also wants to host live music “in either the main house or adjacent garden room” till midnight.
“There may be occasions when there may be an un-amplified band in the gardens,” it states.
The grade II listed venue offers seven conference rooms accommodating up to 90 delegates, 22 bedrooms, and is set in 11 acres of landscaped grounds, its website says.
Comments on its application can be made until June 4 via Herefordshire Council’s licensing webpage.
