A COMMUNITY Speed Watch scheme was launched in Ross-on-Wye earlier this year with a strong group of volunteers signing up to take part.
The speed watch scheme is a community driven road safety initiative, co-ordinated by West Mercia Police but managed and run by volunteers from the Ross community.
It involves trained volunteers monitoring speeds of vehicles with approved, hand-held speed measurement devices. Where vehicle speeds are found to be inappropriate, a letter is sent to the registered keeper by the police with the aim of encouraging them to reduce their speed when driving in the future.
The group are looking to increase the number of volunteers taking part in the scheme. If you are interested in joining, please email [email protected].
