THE residents of Llangrove have held their annual May Fayre where a battle ensued enabling the May Queen to crown her Queen of the Spring.
As the skies darkened overhead and thunder began rumbling a big battle took place between the Ice Queen of the Winter and her icicles and the Green Men of the Forest who fought with much gusto and bravery to defeat the Cold Winter and rescue the May Queen and crowned her Queen of the springtime.
The sun dutifully came out as the maypole dancing began to celebrate Spring.
There were plenty of other attractions at the Bank Holiday Monday event to keep the many visitors entertained.
The village’s famous 'Chicken Drop', made an appearance, where people buy a grid square for £1 with the chance to £100 if the chicken does a deposit on their square caused much hilarity and fun while punters waited for the event to happen.
Traditional skittles and coconut shies were also available aling with wooden horse racing, marble games and a peg-doll making session, kept everyone busy.
A jolly time was had by all with feasting on tea and cake, barbecue burgers, and ice cream.
The money raised, over £4,000, will be shared between Llangrove Academy, Llangrove Leapfrogs Nursery, the church and the village hall.
