The whole community is coming together to support Ross Sports Centre after it was devastated by Storm Dennis.

In a statement issued by Ross Juniors FC, the club warned that the future of Ross Sports Centre could be in “serious jeopardy”.

When the insurers of the Sports Centre assessed the extent of the damage, they affirmed that its current condition poses “unacceptable risks” to health and safety.

A club spokesperson said: “The full extent of the damage can’t be assessed until it’s professionally disinfected and fully dried out. This will take some time.”

If the building is condemned, its users would have to work with its insurers and landlords, Herefordshire Council, to identify the way forward.

After drying out, the building could be fine with minimal cosmetic repairs. However, this could still take up to six months.

A donation page has been set up to help support the building repairs with a £5000 aim. Volunteers have been working hard to restore the premises as best as they can.

Ross Sports Centre were extremely grateful to volunteers and members of Ross Fire Station who turned out to help with the clear up, as well as the building developers, Edenstone, who sent equipment to help clear the water and mud from the car park.
