Staff from Specsavers in Gloucester Road, Ross-on-Wye, dressed up and sold cakes on Friday, February 17th, to raise money for Comic Relief ahead of Red Nose Day which takes place in March. Customers were able to take part in three competitions in return for a donation; guess the name of the teddy, guess the number of sweets in the jar and a sweepstake. Youngsters were also able to put their creative skills to the test in some colouring competitions.
Store director, Lee Thomas, told the Ross Gazette:?“While it’s not officially Red Nose Day until Friday, March 24th, we were keen to get our fundraising started.”
Visitors to the store can also join in with this year’s Comic Relief theme ‘give us a wave’ with Specsavers’ official Red Nose Day glasses. The glasses, which have a waving hand on each side, come in children’s and adult sizes and are just £2, with all the money donated to Comic Relief. Specsavers in Ross-on-Wye has joined Specsavers stores nationwide to support Comic Relief to help poor and vulnerable people living tough lives both here in the UK and across Africa and pledged to raise at least £250,000 for the charity.
The store will be continuing to raise money up until Red Nose Day itself, Friday, March 24th.
