HEREFORD Library is temporarily relocating to the city’s Town Hall while the Shire Hall undergoes a two-year renovation.
Following consultation with library users, who said they would prefer for Hereford library to be in a more central location, the library is temporarily moving to Hereford Town Hall until its permanent new home at Shire Hall is completed.
Hereford Town Hall was chosen for its central location near High Town, ample parking and greater space for programming and book stock.
As part of the move, the current temporary library at the Museum Resource and Learning Centre on Friars Street will close on Saturday, October 12.
The new library space at Hereford Town Hall will open ten days later on Tuesday 22 October 2024.
The library’s temporary new home will officially launch over half term with a week-long programme featuring family-friendly activities, drop-in crafts, story time and baby sign sessions, and a performance by Sea Legs Puppet Theatre.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to view the design proposals for the new library and share their feedback.
