The 1st Bridstow Brownies held an evening of Enrolments and Entertainment recently. Amy and Kitty made their Brownie Promise and were welcomed into the Unit.

The Brownies then served refreshments to their guests and entertained them with gymnastic skills; skipping skills; musical interludes on the clarinet and violin and then they had a good Guiding sing song.

Jill Scamell also joined the guests at the Unit meeting. She came to present the Brownie Unit with their ‘Stop the Drop’ litter pledge certificate, organised by Herefordshire Council.

The Brownies have undertaken two ‘Litter Picks’ this term under the supervision of Jill and the team at RCLCUC.

Brown Owl, Claire Lines, said: “Jill is very proud of our Brownies. We are the first Unit around the Ross area to sign up for the ‘Stop the Drop’ litter pledge.”

Bridstow Brownies would like to challenge other Brownie and Guide Units, as well as Cubs and Scouts, to contact Jill though the RCLCUC Facebook page and organise a litter pick.

They also suggest that they go one step further and support the campaign either by emailing: stopthedrop@herefordshire.

gov.uk or by visiting the website: www.herefordshire.gov.uk/stopthedrop

Claire added: “It is important that our younger generation realise the effect that litter is having on our environment. After taking part in two litter picks this term, and seeing the devastation that litter is causing for our marine life and our wildlife friends - the hedgehogs - Bridstow Brownies are fully on board with this. We are very proud of them.”
