The 1st Bridstow Brownies welcomed Nicola to their Brownie unit recently, who talked to them about Marine Conservation and the work of the Marine Conservation Society.

Brown Owl, Claire Lines, said: “It was a really interesting evening and we were fascinated by the information that Nicola shared with us.”

The girls were surprised to discover that the seas around the UK are bursting with 39 different species of sea life. And also that half of the world’s oxygen is produced by plankton - every second breath we take comes from the oxygen produced in this way.

The Leaders and Brownies were also shocked to discover that a crisp packet takes 75 years to break down into smaller and smaller pieces.

Nicola ended the evening by playing some games with the Brownies.
