Ross residents can once again take their plastic milk bottle tops to EnviroAbility, to help raise funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

For over a year, many residents had been washing and taking their plastic milk bottle tops to EnviroAbility, to help raise funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind. However, this service stopped when a couple of volunteers moved away from the area.

For a year, Mark and Angela Calvin had been collecting the bottle tops from EnviroAbility, and delivering them to a collector in Gloucester. He then takes them to a recycling centre who pay for them.

After they moved away, there was no volunteer to take the bottle tops away from EnviroAbility, and the Ross-on-Wye charity shop does not have the facilities needed to store the large quantities of tops which are brought there.

A volunteer for Guides Dogs for the Blind in Malvern and Ledbury, Debbie Pitts, who carries out collections in those areas, was initially unable to find a volunteer to take on the task.

However, a local volunteer has since come forward and has agreed to collect the bottle tops, so Ross residents can once again take their plastic tops to EnviroAbility to help to generate funds for the charity.

The Ross Gazette has been asked to remind residents that it is only the milk bottle tops which are paid for. Please do not add any other types of tops to the collection as it takes time for volunteers to sort.
