The Penny Farthing Inn, a pub in Aston Crews, has been taken over by a new owner, and will open its doors later today (Friday, August 19th).
Paul Williams, who owns the Yew Tree at Longhope, and Jumping Jacks, a nightclub in Gloucester, bought the pub in February, and since then, the Penny Farthing Inn has undergone a refurbishment.
In 2011, Paul bought the Yew Tree, refurbished the building, and ran it for a few years. He now leases it out, but he added he does not have plans to lease out the Penny Farthing Inn.
Paul commented that the location of the pub was one of the main reasons he decided to purchase it. He added that when breweries run pubs, sometimes this can have a detrimental effect. “When I saw it was up for sale, I thought I’d buy it, to get it back to what it was,” he told the Ross Gazette.
He added that he is looking forward to opening the pub. He has also employed two, local chefs to make sure the food is of a good standard.
