A LOCAL restaurant is to host a Christmas lunch for Alzheimers sufferers, thanks to an anonymous donation.
Emily Balm, who runs the Esca restaurant in Broad Street Ross-on-Wye, explained that a generous customer who tragically lost his wife to Alzheimer's has made an anonymous donation to cover the cost of providing festive lunches.
She said: “As a result of this donation, we are holding a private Christmas lunch on December 17 and 18 for those suffering from the disease and their carers, courtesy of this financial gift from this amazing secret Santa.
“Alzheimer's is a terrible and destructive disease and those who care for a loved one or a families loved one deserve recognition for their humility, dedication and care.
“Our secret Santa joined us on Sunday at Esca for lunch and asked if we would be interested in putting on free Christmas lunches for those locally affected by the disease.
“He donated a significant sum to ensure that all those who attend would get their lunches with no charge as well as a lovely Christmassy atmosphere asking for nothing in return than remaining anonymous.”
The team at Esca will be working with Alzeimer’s support groups and local care homes to extend invitations to attend the restaurant for a freshly cooked two-course festive lunch.
Emily and her husband Ian and son Sam would like to personally thank the person who has made all this possible and will be doing everything they can to make sure that it will be a truly lovely experience for everyone.
● If you or your loved ones are affected by this condition please feel free to pop into Esca and talk to Emily or Ian for more details about joining them for this occasion and they will do their best to help.
