A free, sailing themed and fun family day of food, drink, music, and the chance to browse local produce, is taking place this Saturday, June 8th at Lydney Yacht Club’s Rally at Lydney’s Historic harbour.
View the best decorated yachts, a live river rescue demonstration, sample delights from our BBQ, bar, or from local food and craft stalls, while enjoying the picturesque historic harbourside, music from the Lydney festival and breath-taking views across the Severn.
Each year, at the Rally, Lydney Yacht Club opens its gates to local communities, tourists, stall-holders and club members for a fun-filled day at their beautiful, centuries old club house and historic harbourside, all on the banks of the stunning Severn Estuary.
This year, attractions include visiting yachts from across the Bristol Channel, a BBQ, bar, a live rescue demonstration at midday, a sea shanty performance, face-painting and an ice cream van. You’ll also find stalls selling cake, honey and sandwiches and refreshments, dog accessories, candles, children’s toys, local crafts, promoting the RNLI, SARA (Severn Area Rescue Association) and of course, Lydney Yacht Club membership - open to sailors or anyone interested in learning to sail. From 4pm the open mic session offers the opportunity for amateur musicians, vocalists and live performers to showcase their talents, while entertaining Rally guests.
Founded over 50 years ago and situated within the historic Lydney harbour, on the banks of the stunning Severn Estuary at the foot of the Forest of Dean, Lydney Yacht Club is one of the most picturesque sailing clubs in the British Isles.
