The new term for the Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth Sea Cadets, located at Homs Road, started on Thursday, September 6th.
The session started with ‘Morning Colours’ and ended with ‘Evening Colours’. This is the ceremonial hoisting and lowering of the national ensign at 0800 and sunset at a naval command ashore or aboard a ship of the Navy.
After their ‘Evening Colours’ ceremony, a presentation was held to enrol new members and present existing Sea Cadets with Duke of Edinburgh awards and various badges.
Two cheques were also presented to the Sea Cadets charity by the RNA (Royal Naval Association) Monmouth.
A cheque for £300 was presented to allow a lucky Cadet the fantastic opportunity to go on a week’s residential trip “on the sea”, and another cheque for £700 was awarded to help with the upkeep of the building.
The Sea Cadets new unit officially opened in July of this year and they are ready to welcome new members and volunteers. These photos and many more were taken by the Ross Gazette. To purchase these photos, please visit the website: https://rossgazette.newsprints.co.uk/
