SHOPPERS flocked to Ross-on-Wye’s Christmas Fayre in Market Place on Sunday - thrilled to share some festive spirit after last Yuletide’s lockdown.

Organisers Ross-on-Wye Town Council posted pictures of the event and said: "After many months of planning and organising, we hope you enjoyed yesterday’s Christmas Fayre - although a little chilly, the sun was shining and the turn out was really wonderful.

"We’d like to thank all of our volunteers, traders, performers, our Town Crier, Hereford Hospital Radio and Scaffolding 2000 for providing the stage plus the First Responders ambulance team and Wye Security Solutions for making it a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.

"We also hope our younger visitors enjoyed Enviroability’s popular Santa’s Grotto at The Venue and didn’t get too cold waiting in the queue!

"Special thanks to Cllr Daniel Lister, Cllr Katie Fowler and Charlotte Reynolds, our Community Development Officer, for all their hard work in making it such a success."

They urged anyone with photos of the event to upload them on the town council’s Facebook page.

Angie Carlson posted: "Really enjoyed the Fayre, well organised and well attended."

Meanwhile, the council has launched six weeks of Christmas Hamper Giveaway photo competitions on a different theme each week to launch its new Instagram account @rosstowncouncil.

A spokesperson said: "The purpose is to support local businesses and showcase the diverse and wonderful array of products and services the town has to offer.

"The first giveaway is themed ’Ross-on-Wye Outdoors’. We all know the physical and mental benefits of being outdoors - whether you’re walking the dog, fishing, cycling, hiking, rambling, playing sports, practicing yoga or just taking a gentle stroll by the riverside.

"Enjoying the outdoors is the theme of our first giveaway hamper and represents, we feel, some of the best attributes our beautiful town and countryside has to offer.

"The winner of this giveaway will be announced next Friday (November 26) and will receive a fantastic selection of items from our outdoors shops which include Fishers, Escape To The Great Outdoors, Mountain Warehouse, Forest Army Surplus, Revolutions and Clubsport.

To enter, residents can go to Ross Town Council’s social media platforms.

Photos can be scenic or of you, your friends and family walking in the Ross-on-Wye countryside, rowing along the River Wye, cycling, playing sport or just taking a four-footed friend for a run in the fields.
