The Ross Choristers presented a varied programme of songs to a capacity audience who gave a warm and enthusiastic reception to both choir and soloists at St Joseph’s School Hall.
The concert was organised to raise funds for the Ross-on-Wye Community Hospital and included items from the musicals ‘The King and I’ , ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ and ‘The Lion King’ with songs from Novello, Dylan, Adele and Puccini also featuring. The audience were involved in a sing-a-long and launched itself, with gusto, into a medley of popular old favourites.
Thanks to very generous donations from local businesses and private sponsors the raffle proved a money-spinner with £200 being raised for the cause. The ladies of the local branch of The British Legion contributed to the enjoyment of this event by organising much appreciated, interval refreshments.
It will give considerable satisfaction to the Ross Choristers to be able to present a cheque to The Community Hospital for £1,360, a total which exceeded expectations but is a good indicator of a successful evening.
The Choristers’ next concert is in support of The Royal British Legion and is scheduled for the autumn. Anyone interested in light-hearted, recreational singing and looking for a group to join, should consider The Ross Choristers. They are always pleased to recruit new members, with or without experience. Weekly practice takes place at 7.30pm on Monday evenings at Ross Conservative Club.
