This photo was taken a few minutes before the proclamation of the accession was given outside Hereford Cathedral on the Sunday after the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It is the assembled party of dignitaries inside the Cathedral before they trooped out. A rare meeting of the lord lieutenant, high sheriff, most of deputy lord lieutenants and all of the market town mayors of Herefordshire as well as Hereford—amongst other dignitaries.
