Over the years the Savoy Theatre in Monmouth has been threatened by fire on several occasions but on Sunday, September 29th the presence of several crews including firefighters from Ross and Whitchurch, was not due to an actual blaze.
Instead the local firefighters were part of an exercise designed to test over-border procedures with neighbouring services and involved Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews as well as South Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Monmouth, Abergavenny and Chepstow.
The exercise, which lasted around three hours, involved a rescue of multiple casualties from a complex building.
“There were some good learning points which will be passed on to improve procedures in the future,” said Station Commander Neil Lilwall.
