A driver who refused to stop at a police road closure last year admitted dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis at Hereford Crown Court last week.
An accident had closed the A49 near Hereford in both directions on Saturday, November 7th, 2015, at approximately 00.50am, and police were on the scene conducting investigations.
A blue Vauxhall Astra was stopped at the closure by an officer who, after talking with the driver, believed he could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath.
At this point, the driver of the Astra made off through the scene of the road traffic collision, damaging equipment being used by officers.
A stinger device was deployed to deflate the vehicles’ tyres and it bring it safely to a stop.
Zelah Webb, 41 from Sellack, Herefordshire, was arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a specimen, failing to stop, criminal damage and dangerous driving. Judge Daniel Pearce-Higgins ordered Webb to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, to complete five days of rehabilitation activity and a drink driving programme. She was also banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to take an extended re-test on completion.
