The Ross-on-Wye Community First Responders (CFRs) are very grateful to members of the local community for their generosity following an appeal for funds.
In early July, the Ross Gazette reported that the Ross CFRs were appealing for funds to pay for their new vehicle livery. Due to legislation changes, the group were required by the UK government to change the livery to a new style.
Tom Dudziec, Herefordshire and Worcestershire CFR Ross Co-ordinator, told the Gazette: “I would just like to say a big thank you for the support we have received. From individuals donating small amounts to the businesses and other organisations. It all added up to achieve the goal of funding the change in colours.
“Without the support of our communities we would not be able to continue running. This overwhelming support has been fantastic and the end result is a bright easily distinguishable response vehicle.”
Community First Responders are volunteers trained by West Midlands Ambulance Service to a nationally recognised level to provide lifesaving treatment to people in their local communities.
Although the Ambulance Service provides all the training and the loan of medical equipment, CFRs have to become involved in a variety of fundraising events to support their work.
In addition to the generous support from the local community, the First Responders have also recently welcomed several extra members into their group. Tom commented that the new members, all ladies, will be active in the near future, helping boost their numbers even further.See the full story in this week’s edition of the Ross Gazette, or subscribe to our online edition.
