PLANS have been put forward for 40 holiday lodges at an angling spot in Upton Bishop.
The application proposes the lodges would occupy a nine-acre site around the fishing lakes, which already has a brick-built fishing lodge on the site.
The application has been made to Herefordshire planner by Dinmore Leisure of Hope under Dinmore, an established dealer in caravans and mobile homes.
The pre-assembled single-storey lodges would be classed as caravans for planning purposes, so would not be considered permanent structures – though they would be in use year-round.
The firm originally wanted 56 lodges at the site, but lowered the figure after pre-application advice from Herefordshire Council and specialist consultants, leaving ‘generous’ space around each lodge.
And while the focus of the development would be the fishing lake, guests would be drawn to the area’s many other attractions, the application states.
Finished in muted colours, the proposed lodges ‘will cause little if any discernible effect’ on the wider area, an accompanying landscape and visual appraisal concludes.
A transport technical report meanwhile demonstrates that the extra traffic from the lodges can be absorbed safely by the local highway network. The existing entrance to the field will be widened to improve visibility.
Comments on the application (number 241664) can be made until November 21.
