LAST year’s Ross Golf Club lady captain Katie Stooke chose the West Midlands Air Ambulance Charity for her charity and was delighted to present them with a cheque for £2,684 raised by the ladies, reports RUTH KIRCHMEIER.

Living in rural Herefordshire, with beautiful but in parts inaccessible  countryside, a swift response to endangered lives is vital, and for these reasons Katie felt it was an extremely worthwhile charity to support.  

After the unseasonably long wet winter, the course is gradually drying out and the ladies have been enjoying playing again in springlike conditions with carpets of bluebells lining the course and between the fairways. 

On Tuesday, April 18, 18 ladies played in the H&J Salver Club Greensomes over 16 holes.

Martha Norton and Helen Shaw came first with 27 points, followed by Kerry Welding and Hannah Keir in second place on countback from Lois Price and Katie Stooke with 26 points. 

Sixteen ladies also played in the Front 9 hole Stableford which was won by Allison Charles and Karen Mirfin with 14 points, followed by Lorraine Fenner and Ellie Teasdale in second place on countback from Ros Ashton and Jane Baldwin with 12 points. 

The first medal of the season for the Little Weston Cup was played on Tuesday, April 23.

Twenty one ladies played, with Allison Charles coming first with a nett score of 78.

In second place was Victoria Northcott with a nett score of 80 and in third place was Diane Martin with a nett score of 83. Sally Fycun had the best gross score of 98.    

Twenty three ladies played in the Front 9 hole Medal which was won by Karen Mirfin with a nett score of 35.

Ellie Teasdale came second with a nett score of 40 and in third place was Eileen Cooper with a nett score of 41 points. Ellie Teasdale had the best gross score of 50.
